- Mr. Frank H. Reynolds, age 85, retired Engineer of the 485th Electronics Installation Squadron of Griffiss Air Force Base died on Tuesday, March 24, 2020. Born in Hartford, CT on December 24, 1934 to Joseph F. and Elizabeth B. Reynolds, he was raised in West Hartford, CT.
Frank graduated from Hartford Adult High School and became a mason’s apprentice. He continued attending night school for many years graduating from the University of Hartford with a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering. During the day he worked as a master mason and he played bagpipes with the 53rd Stewart Highlanders. After college, Frank got a job in the Navy construction office on Griffiss AFB which in turn, turned into the 485th.
With the 485th Frank was involved with major Cold War construction projects including: the EADS building at Griffiss and other projects across the world.
After retiring from GAFB, Frank volunteered with the American Red Cross. His HAM Radio skills (call sign N2FHR) allowed him to volunteer at the Empire State Games, the Utica Boilermaker, and NYC id efforts after September 11th. He was a member of the Utica Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society and the Madison-Oneida Amateur Radio Club.
Frank was a lover of the railroad, dogs, and chocolate cake.
He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth O’Connor (and Brad) of Wichita Falls, TX; sons, Larry (and Teresa) of Windsor, CT, Christopher, and Patrick of Lee, NY; and two grandchildren, Megan and Sean O’Connor.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Arrangements have been entrusted to Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome.
